Benefits can be a multiple of employees' earnings (up to 12 x annual salary) or a set level of cover for all employees.
Group Life policies are usually set up using a discretionary trust:
We offer Group Life insurance products to suit all types of employers, from SMEs to large corporates and across every sector of the economy.
Our Registered Group Life product is written under a trust and provides a tax-free lump sum up to the Lifetime Allowance (LTA), within HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) regulations for a registered occupational pension scheme. People insured under the policy can have different levels of benefit.
Simplicity Life is a simple version of our Registered Group Life policy for employers who want to give a more basic level of life cover to their employees for the first time.
The plan is for PAYE employees and written under our Registered Group Life Master Trust.
Excepted Group Life insurance provides tax-free benefits and is sometimes used for high earners. It allows for lump sum benefits to be paid outside of the Lifetime Allowance (LTA).
All people insured under the policy must have the same level of benefit.

Employers can take out the policy to provide a lump sum benefit to an employee if their spouse or partner dies while insured.
A Spouse and partner's policy is typically a voluntary arrangement in association with a Unum Group Life policy for the same employees.

These provide onboarding support explaining all the wellbeing and support services you can access with your policy. The sessions include a Q&A and useful downloads to make sure you can register straight away for these services.

Selected Help@hand services are also available to uninsured employees at no additional cost. Employers can extend the full suite of services to employees not covered by the Group Risk policy for a cost of £4.50 per employee per month.
