Carer helping elder person

Unum expands eldercare support for employees with new Lottie partnership

From today, Unum UK is enhancing its support for carers with a new offering from eldercare specialists, Lottie. This news follows Unum’s recent update to its carers leave policy in January, offering all staff with caring responsibilities up to 5 days of paid leave per year.

According to an Opinium poll commissioned by Unum in 2022, 35% of employees who consider themselves in the sandwich generation want their employers to create a specific support programme, including signposting to external care.

By leveraging Lottie’s innovative platform, Unum can now provide its 900+ employees with comprehensive eldercare support, ensuring that they can access vital information and advice on caring for their elder dependents. This new partnership underscores Unum’s determination to foster an inclusive and supportive workplace environment, catering to the needs of employees throughout life’s moments.

Founded in 2021, Lottie’s Seniorcare service combines healthcare expertise and accessible technology to create an eldercare solution which allows users to compare care homes and providers to help find the right care solutions. Care specialists can provide 1-2-1 support and guidance for users throughout their journey to help alleviate emotional burden and provide more information to understand, find and fund care for loved ones.

Jane Hulme, HR Director at Unum UK commented:

“Connecting Lottie’s eldercare expertise with Unum’s culture of putting people at the heart of employee benefits helps make sure the caregivers among our workforce can be fully present and thrive at work.  With five generations in the modern workforce and a growing number in the ‘sandwich generation’, we want to nurture and retain the best talent through different stages of their working life to enable them all to thrive.”
