Unum appoints SEC Newgate to raise its profile in the UK

Leading employee benefits provider Unum UK has appointed integrated communications agency SEC Newgate to raise its profile in the UK.

Unum UK offers financial protection through the workplace including Group Income Protection, Life Insurance, Critical Illness Cover and Dental Insurance — serving what’s typically known as the ‘Group Risk’ market — and is committed to workplace wellbeing for both employees and employers.

SEC Newgate won the brief following a competitive pitch and has been appointed to provide strategic communication support as well as to build and raise Unum’s profile in the UK as a leader in employee benefits. The team will be led by Directors Vanessa Chance and Sara Neidle, with strategic counsel from Managing Director Alistair Kellie and supported by Ian Silvera, Jessica Sena and Georgina Procter.

John Hyde, Chief Marketing Officer at Unum, said:

“SEC Newgate showed a clear passion for employee benefits with a commitment to workplace wellbeing and were genuinely enthusiastic for the brief. It is really important for us that our partners share our core values and we can see a great cultural fit with SEC Newgate. This is a really exciting time for Unum and we are looking forward to working together as we take our communications to the next level.”

Alistair Kellie, Co-Head of Communications at SEC Newgate, added:

“This is such an important time in the employee benefits space, as people look for employment that supports their lifestyle and improves their wellbeing more than ever. Unum has so much to offer its employer clients and their staff, and it is a real opportunity for Unum to leverage its heritage and expertise in this sector. We are thrilled to have been appointed by Unum and very keen to get started.”
