Premier

Premier is Unum’s key account management programme that provides proven, modern and flexible support for larger Group Income Protection customers, who may have limited time or resource to manage sickness absence.

Premier provides:

  • Flexible & focused absence management – an approach that fits with customers’ existing processes and changes to complement their future plans;
  • A dedicated team of industry experts – help and support when it’s needed;
  • Early vocational rehabilitation intervention at the customer’s request. Our Rehabilitation Specialists can get involved as early as 4-6 weeks into an absence, helping employers to manage the effects of their employee's illness or disability much earlier, improving the likelihood of an early return to work, sometimes even removing the need to submit a claim
  • Guidance on Return to Work planning – our Rehabilitation Specialists will work with the customer to create a tailored return to work plan for their employee
  • Regular reports – detailing scheme performance, claims experience, industry benchmarks and rehabilitation activity.

Benefits for the employer

Premier provides a wide array of services and offerings to help employers get the most out of their Group Income Protection scheme, including:

  • Enabling managers to focus their time on their business, not on sickness absence issues;
  • Working with employers to reduce the number of absences which result in a claim – helping to keep staff costs down and Group Income Protection scheme premium to a minimum;
  • Involvement from our in-house Medical Services team, experts in the understanding of disability issues – an opportunity to discuss clinical intervention and other medical issues, where relevant;
  • Guidance and information on reasonable workplace adjustments that may be needed, helping employers comply with their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
