Unum's Group Income Protection is a comprehensive insurance package that helps employers fund part of the cost of absences due to employee sickness, illness and injury. Employers are dependent on their employees to run their business whilst employees are dependent on their income to fund their lifestyles. Therefore, sickness absences in the workplace can cause significant disruption to both the employer and the employee. The solution is Unum's Group Income Protection!
If an employee is unable to work due to long-term illness or injury, our Group Income Protection provides:
- A monthly replacement income
- Access to Unum's specialist rehabilitation opportunities
The cover pays employers a percentage of the absent employee's earnings. Cover can start when the employer's short-term sick pay provision ends and can continue for any length of time right up until the employees' retirement age.
Benefit payments normally continue until the employee is well enough to return to work. Our unique proactive rehabilitation programme means our intervention takes place as quickly as possible.
Simple, Flexible and Invaluable
By selecting the level of benefit for each employee category and the length of time for which the payments will continue, employers are able to control the level of premium they pay.
Group Income Protection is a contract between the employer and Unum, providing protection for any amount of skilled staff. New employees can be added to the policy with only the highest earners normally requiring any medical underwriting.
The cost of a policy is usually around 1.5 percent of gross payroll making Group Income Protection an attractive, sensible and foreseeable expense for any employer.
