Unum enhances Adviser support with new Individual Protection website

Unum, one of the UK’s leading protection providers, is enhancing its commitment to supporting advisers’ business development through the creation of a new website, unum4advisers.co.uk. The site provides advisers with an easily accessible source of information on the benefits of individual income protection and includes sales aids, statistics, and video case studies all designed to help them present the product solutions to their clients as effectively as possible.
Linton Penman, Head of Retail Sales & Marketing at Unum, comments: “Income protection products are too often perceived by advisers as complex, expensive and difficult to pay out on. If we are to close the protection gap in the UK, we need to do all we can to dispel these views and look for new and different ways of supporting advisers in their sales efforts.”
For example, unum4advisers provides Unum’s broker consultants with the ability to demonstrate the income shortfall calculator via a telephone conversation. They can also demonstrate sales aids, video clips and slide presentations, which together create a flexible toolkit with instant access to information – all online.
Penman adds: “Previously, our consultants would have had to describe the particular sales tool over the phone and then send it in the post, or by e-mail. By this time the moment is potentially lost, and it’s much harder to resurrect the discussion at a later date. These tools will hopefully allow the conversation to become more interactive and fulfilling – for both parties.”
The new website will be followed by a sister site for Group protection in early May.
