For the second year running UnumProvident - the leading income protection provider - has taken part in Business in the Community's (BiTC) Corporate Responsibility Index and is proud to be ranked in the top 100 UK 'Companies that Count'.
Five hundred companies were invited to participate and UnumProvident was ranked 65 out of the top 100 companies with particular focus on occupational health and safety, workplace diversity, community investment and social inclusion. The insurer was one of only five insurance companies to appear in
the top 100.
Based on a detailed survey, the Index provides companies with a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting on social and environmental performance against their peers. It is designed to focus on what is important to business and encourages the examination of social impacts in the marketplace, the workplace, the wider community and the environment.
Victoria Secretan, Head of Corporate Responsibility for UnumProvident, said:
The Index provides an invaluable opportunity to test our corporate responsibility performance against other leading companies in the UK. By the very public and transparent reporting and benchmarking of performance, all participating companies are demonstrating a genuine commitment to ongoing improvement.
At UnumProvident, not only are we are proud of our achievement in the Index, but applaud those other companies who, through their involvement, are communicating the importance of responsible business practice throughout the wider business community.
