Executive Committee


The executives are responsible for implementing and executing business strategy.  The Executive Committee develops and delivers the annual Business Plan, which in turn is approved by the Board.  The committee is also responsible for identifying and recommending new business opportunities, monitoring operating and financial performance, and prioritising and allocating resources accordingly in line with these.  The Executive Committee identifies and manages risk in accordance with the company’s Risk Appetite and Risk Management Framework.

As CEO, Susan shapes and influences the future development of the company and ensures that it delivers on its strategic objectives. As well as chairing the Executive Committee, Susan sits on the  Regulatory and Compliance Committee.

Martin provides strategic financial management and leadership across the business, including ensuring that robust financial controls and processes are deployed consistently.  Martin chairs the second committee of the CEO, the Risk Management Committee.  He also sits on the Finance and Investment Committee.

Paul is responsible for leading teams to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality service to customers on a day to day basis as well as driving and directing a future approach to service that will enable Unum to achieve its strategic aim of customer service leadership as a key differentiator.

Paul is responsible for Unum’s marketing strategy and development.  He ensures that the customer is the focus of our product and market development activities and that Unum’s strong reputation in its core market is guarded and maintained.

Peter drives the strategic development of Unum’s customer claims management proposition, bringing together the collective expertise and understanding from within the organisation as well as from external sources to help deliver unrivalled claims management for Unum’s customers.

Management Services Director

Philip is responsible for driving improvements and delivering customer-focused information technology and communications services and systems to underpin Unum’s day to day operations at the same time as supporting the company’s strategic goals of and service leadership.
   
 Vince Mewett

Human Resources Director
Vince is responsible for driving and directing leading edge HR strategies that support Unum’s goal of developing and retaining high quality, customer-driven people as well as ensuring that the organisation encourages a high performance, values-based culture within a corporately and socially responsible operating framework.  In his role, Vince also oversees legal as well as facilities management for the organisation. He also sits on the Regulatory and Compliance Committee.

Glenn drives Unum's sales growth through the formulation and delivery of strategic sales and retention plans that are based on understanding and adding value to customers.  He works closely with the wider organisation to translate customer needs into strategic business initiatives and developments.
