Travelling by car
From M62 Jct. 18:
At Jct. 18 change onto the M60 going south-east until Jct. 19. Exit the M60 at Jct. 19 and head south on the A576 (Middleton Road). Turn left onto the A665 (Bury Old Road). Continue on the A665 and at the Junction with the A6042 (Trinity Way) turn right (at the MEN Arena). At the next junction with the A56 turn left onto Victoria Street (which becomes Deansgate). Turn left onto John Dalton Street, follow this to the next lights and turn left onto Cross Street. At the next set of lights turn right onto King Street, then left onto Cheapside. Turn left into Chapel Walks, The Observatory is the last building on the left.
From A57 near Hyde (east of Manchester):
Take the M67 west into Manchester. At Jct. 1 (with the M60) take the exit for the A57. Continue on the A57 until the roundabout with the A6 and take the third exit for the A6/A57(M). Bear left up the ramp onto the A57(M) (Mancunian Way). Take the next exit and follow the roundabout around back onto the A57(M) heading east. Take the next exit onto Sackville Street. At the T-junction with Portland Street turn right and immediately left onto Charlotte Street (later Spring Gardens). Turn left onto King Street. Turn right onto Cheapside and left into Chapel Walks. The Observatory is the last building on the left.
From M6, Jct. 21a (Warrington):
Exit the M6 at Jct. 21a and head onto the M62 eastbound into Manchester. At Jct. 12 the M62 becomes the M602, stay on it until it ends (at Jct. 3) and bear left onto the A5063 (Albion Way). Turn right onto the A6 heading east (The Crescent/Chapel Street). Turn right onto the A34 (New Bailey Street, later Bridge Street/John Dalton Street). Turn left onto Cross Street. Take the 3rd right onto King Street and then turn immediately left onto Cheapside and left again into Chapel Walks. The Observatory is the last building on the left.
